CINCO DE MAYO

To commemorate the end of  another cookie season and to take advantage of our meeting falling on Cinco de Mayo, we celebrated with a Fiesta Party!

The Cadettes are one step closer to completing the MEdia Journey!  One of the suggested activities is to make layered nachos - they chose to make tacos- after all it supposed to be girl led.  Each Troop member brought a different topping for the taco bar and the creativity ensued.  Moms were invited to participate since they are such a big part of the cookie sale too.

Even though the majority of these girls have been in the same Troop for the past  6 -7 years they don't attend school together so the only time spent with one another is at Scout events.   Working toward our Free Being Me patch, we played a game "Getting to Know You".  It was interesting to see how much they learned new about each other after all of this time.  We also made a Troop banner using 2 separate parts - 1 with only their first name and 1 with no names and only positive words to describe themselves.  They were randomly given a completed piece to read.  Most of them find themselves beautiful, smart, sporty, fun, and artistic.  The girls also made pocket sized mirrors so they can be reminded of the wonderful words that describe themselves each time that they look in it.  The banner is going to hang is our GS room at our meeting church once assembled.

Before our meeting ended, the girls shared swaps with each other.  Each Scout was presented with their earned badges and fun patches from the cookie season.  Tagalongs received their fun patches too!  Staying in Cinco de Mayo fashion - a "badge taco / swap holder" held all of their treasures.  Our Council sent a Thank you gift of cake pops in appreciation of our Troop volunteering at Council Events over the past 2 years.

Taco Tuesday was a success!
